Report: Yet another Spurs star withdraws from international duty through injury

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso has become the latest Tottenham Hotspur player to withdraw from International duty due to a left thigh muscle injury (confirmed by Argentina international side on Twitter).

Steven Bergwijn has already withdrawn from the Netherlands squad for their upcoming Nations League matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Italy after picking up an injury.

Meanwhile, Japhet Tanganga also opted out of the England Under-21 squad for their upcoming Euro qualifiers against Andorra and Turkey (Evening Standard).

Son Heung-min will also be spending the international break at Hotspur Way after South Korea’s World Cup qualifiers against Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka, originally scheduled for this month, were postponed until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It now looks as though Lo Celso will also be at the training ground for the next couple of weeks as he withdrew from Argentina’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Ecuador today.

Gold confirmed that it was the same thigh injury that kept the midfielder out of Tottenham’s win at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Many of these players certainly deserve some rest on the back of the uncompromising schedule we have had to deal in the first few weeks of the season. Let’s hope all of those who have travelled to meet up with their international squads return without any injuries.
