Report: Young Spurs player is desperate to return to home country in January

Estadio Deportivo have revealed that Bryan Gil is desperate to return to La Liga in January but a move to Sevilla may not be in the cards for the Tottenham man.

The report primarily focuses on Sevilla’s pursuit of Gil, with the La Liga club’s head coach Jorge Sampaoli said to have asked for reinforcements in the wide areas.

It is reported that the club could either sign the Spurs star on loan on recall winger Lucas Ocampos, who is currently on loan at Ajax.

The report alleges that Sampoli likes both players but would prefer his compatriot Ocampos since he feels the Argentine would be better suited to the challenge of helping the club dig themselves out of potential relegation trouble.

Estadio Deportivo also add that Gil is ‘crazy’ about returning to La Liga in January and has plenty of suitors, including Valencia, Real Sociedad, Cadiz and Mallorca, who have all shown interest in the 21-year-old over recent weeks.

Based on this report, a return to Sevilla appears unlikely for Gil next month. Tottenham’s priority would be to find the winger a club where he is guaranteed regular starts while the player might prefer to return to the familiar surroundings of the Mestalla, having had a successful spell at Los Che last season.
