Report: Zaniolo’s agent still in talks with Tottenham to try and facilitate transfer

According to the print edition of Il Tempo (08/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness), Nicolo Zaniolo’s agent Claudio Vigorelli is trying to get his client’s proposed move to Tottenham over the line.

Both Calciomercato.it and AS Roma Live have alleged over recent days that Roma informed Tottenham Zaniolo would cost €50m (£42.1m) and the North London club will decide over the coming days whether to make such an offer.

However, Monday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (08/08/22 – via Sport Witness) claimed that Spurs have only made a loan offer for the 23-year-old so far with an obligation to buy at €25m (£21m).

The report stated there will be ‘no possibility’ for the winger to leave the Stadio Olimpico unless Antonio Conte’s men improve their bid.

Il Tempo have now suggested that Vigorelli is in talks with Tottenham to see whether the Premier League club can make an offer in line with Roma’s demands.

It is asserted that the Serie A club would only let the winger leave for a straight cash offer of 50m (£42.1m) without any counterparts.

Il Tempo add that although Jose Mourinho would like to keep Zaniolo at the club, the Italy international will leave if a suitable offer arrives before the transfer window closes.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have a suspicion that Tottenham will test Roma’s resolve with another offer for Zaniolo before the transfer window closes, given that both Conte and Paratici evidently rate the 23-year-old highly. However, it remains to be seen if the club will be willing to meet Roma’s €50m (£42.1m) valuation of the winger.
