Report: Zidane believes Real Madrid’s biggest summer mistake was not buying Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur broke their transfer record in the summer, after reaching the Champions League Final, bringing in Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

In the 2018/19 season, Ndombele shone for Lyon, particularly in the Champions League against the likes of Manchester City.

The French midfielder played an impressive 49 games for Lyon, scoring three goals and setting up another eight. Two of his three goals came in the Champions League (Transfer Markt).

Spurs picked the 22-year-old up for a club-record £55m in the summer, as reported by the Guardian.

So far this season, Ndombele has settled in well in North London, playing 14 matches across all competitions and scoring two goals, while assisting another three (Transfer Markt).

Defensa Central have now claimed that Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, believes his club’s biggest mistake of the summer was not signing Ndombele themselves.

The report says that Zidane was disappointed that Madrid did not go in for Ndombele before he made the move to North London.
