Reported Spurs and Man United target hints he will get a summer transfer

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he is close to leaving Ajax at the end of the season, with several clubs expressing interest in his services.

Timber has been a regular fixture in the Ajax backline for more than two years and the versatile defender, who can operate in central defence and at right-back, is thought to be attracting interest from the Premier League.

90 min reported back in March that the 21-year-old was on the radar of both Spurs and Manchester United, and that he is keen on leaving the Eredivisie giants in favour of taking up a new challenge at the end of the season.

The Netherlands international had also been linked with a move to Spurs last summer, with Todofichajes even reporting at the time that Fabio Paratici had entered into talks regarding a deal for the player.

Timber himself has now all but admitted that he is on his way out of the Johann Cruyff Arena, explaining that he has an agreement with Ajax regarding a summer transfer.

He told De Telegraaf: “A transfer is getting closer and closer, so to speak.

“There is a lot of concrete interest and I have made agreements with Ajax.

“Last year Ajax asked me to stay for at least one more season and to extend my contract.

“As a club boy, I did that with love and after the season we will review the situation.”

I suspect that Timber is likely to end up at Old Trafford as he would want to reunite with Erik Ten Hag.

It is unclear if the centre-back remains on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer, particularly with Fabio Paratici no longer in charge and the North London club yet to finalise a new head coach.
