Reported Spurs January striker target responds to Lucas Moura’s social media post

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a number of new strikers in the January transfer market, as the window coincided with a nasty injury to lead man Harry Kane.

Kane managed to rupture the tendon in his left hamstring while stretching for a ball against Southampton back on January 1, and was then ruled out until early April after undergoing surgery.

With Spurs selling Vincent Janssen back in the summer, while also letting Fernando Llorente leave on a free transfer, Kane was the only remaining senior strike option at the club.

This seemed to lead to a flurry of rumours, links, and attempts to sign a new front man for Tottenham, which included Willian Jose from Real Sociedad.

The Guardian claimed that Spurs were in talks with the Spanish club for their striker, but Sociedad wanted £21m and the deal was dropped.

However, Jose interacted with Lucas Moura’s recent Instagram post after the North Londoners defeated Man City 2-0 at the new stadium.
