Reported Spurs target keen to join Premier League rivals instead

Calcio Mercato reported a few days ago that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the Premier League club vying for the signature of Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.

The Croat is yet to feature for the Italian giants so far this campaign having been completely frozen out of the first-team picture by Maurizio Sarri.

The report claimed Manchester United had made an approach for Madzukic and that Juventus’ sporting director, Fabio Paratici had already travelled to London to negotiate with the Red Devils.

However, with a deal not yet agreed, it was alleged that both Spurs and West Ham were considering hijacking the deal.

However, a report in Tuttosport has now claimed that the 33-year-old has his heart set on a move to Man Utd and might even start training with the United team from December in order to settle quickly into his new surroundings.

It is asserted that Juventus and Man Utd could come to an informal agreement that allows the forward to train with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men from next month.

This could put an end to any Spurs hope of signing the target man.

Spurs Web Opinion

The suggestion that Spurs could be interested in Mandzukic was pretty far fetched anyway considering his age. While we could certainly do with another forward to serve as a plan B if things aren’t going our way, I would prefer us to sign a young, hungry forward who can learn from the likes of Harry Kane.
