Reported Spurs target reveals his dream to move abroad

RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg has gone public with his desire to seek a new challenge next season.

A report in last week’s edition of SportBild (as relayed by Sport Witness) revealed that Forsberg has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs, including Spurs.

The 28-year-old has seen himself fall down the pecking order recently and it was claimed that he is frustrated at the lack of opportunities at the Red Bull Arena this season.

The Swedish international came off the bench during Leipzig’s 1-0 win over Spurs in the first leg of the Champions League round of sixteen tie and earned Jose Mourinho’s praise after the game (Goal.com).

Responding to the Spurs boss’ comments, Forsberg’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya revealed that he wasn’t surprised by the Portuguese’s words and hinted that the player might soon be on his way out of Leipzig (Expressen).

Forsberg, who is under contract until 2022 has now spoken out on the speculation regarding his future and has admitted that he is looking for an exit.

He told SportBild (as relayed by TEAMtalk): “I don’t have to prove myself anymore. I have a contract, but everyone knows that I dream of playing in another league again.”

This is likely yet another case of the player’s agent trying to drum up interest in his client by bringing our name into the picture. While Forsberg is a tidy player, we are fairly well stocked for attacking midfielders at the moment and so, I’m not sure what he will add to our squad.
