Reported Spurs target reveals Mourinho told him he would buy him back one day

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to a number of players of late, one of them being Lyon striker Memphis Depay, who is performing well in France.

Many fans will remember that the Dutch forward already had one spell in the Premier League with Manchester United, although it wasn’t the most successful move for Depay.

Funnily enough, the manager at the time in Manchester was none other than Jose Mourinho, who has since joined Tottenham Hotspur as the new head coach.

Spurs and Liverpool are both said to be interested in giving Depay another chance in the Premier League (CalcioMercato).

The player himself also revealed that he did not have a bad relationship with Mourinho during his time at Manchester United. He even recalls that Jose said he hoped to buy him back one day.

Only joining a matter of weeks ago, the Special One is yet to make his first signing as Spurs boss, but could a reunion be on the cards?

The Times report Depay said: “I said to Mourinho ‘you will see me at the top,’

“He said, ‘OK, I hope that and I hope we will buy you back one day.’ I never had a bad relationship with him.”
