Reported Spurs target shines against Germany

It looks unlikely the Toby Alderweireld is going to be at Tottenham next season after the club took the option to extend the Belgian’s contract a further twelve months which activated a clause that could see the former Ajax man leave for £26 million if a bid is received prior to the last fortnight of this summer’s transfer window.

Alderweireld has proven over the last few seasons that he is one of the best centre-halves in the world with a £26 million fee representing a bargain for a potential club to land the 30-year-old.

Spurs are said to looking for potential replacements for the defender, with Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen being heavily linked with the club. Another player who is said to be in Tottenham’s radar is Fiorentina’s young defender Nikola Milenkovic. (The Mirror)

Milenkovic has been one of the best defenders in Serie A this season and the 21-year-old’s performances for the Italian club saw him called up to Serbian national team last year.

The central was once again at his best as he started for Serbia in an international friendly away to Germany on Wednesday. Milenkovic put in a dominant display at the back, as the Serbs walked away with a point from the game.

With the defender said to be available for around £30 million in the summer according to Corriere dello Sport, Spurs could snap him up in the summer for a relatively modest price.
