Reported Spurs target’s agent makes transfer confession – ‘I don’t think he can do more’

Timothy Castagne’s agent, Zenon Melon has admitted that the right-back is looking to make a step up from Atalanta after three solid seasons in Bergamo.

The Italian club have won several admirers over the last couple of seasons as they have punched above their weight and been a force in both the Serie A and Europe.

Castagne is one of several impressive young prospects that Atalanta have on their books and it has been reported that Tottenham view the Belgian as an option as they look to upgrade at right-back (Le10Sport).

Reports previously indicated that the 24-year-old was focussed on the club’s Champions League campaign and did not wish to hold talks over his future (HLN), but Gian Piero Gasperini’s side were knocked out of the competition by PSG on Wednesday.

Melon admitted that Castagne has grown as far as he can at Atalanta and is now ready for a move.

When asked about the defender’s future, he told HNL (as relayed by Football Italia): “Timothy has done very well in the last three seasons, but I don’t think he can do more than what he did at Atalanta.

“Now we will evaluate all the options. The player, until yesterday, was focused on the Champions League. Now, let’s see how the market evolves.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It looks like we are likely to go for one of either Celik or Castagne this summer, which is not surprising considering both players boast of similar attributes. The question is whether we will move on Serge Aurier and potentially sign another younger right-back like a Max Aarons this summer. Given that there has been no news about a contract extension for Aurier, I think it is likely that the club will cash-in on him if they get a decent offer.
