Reported Tottenham January target starts in cup clash amidst rumours

With the transfer window drawing to a close in just two days, Spurs are yet to sign a striker to replace the injured Harry Kane.

While the Lilywhites have been linked with several strikers this month, AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek seems to be one of the most likely to come in, according to reports.

Reports suggest that Tottenham are negotiating with Milan for the Polish international’s transfer and hope to have the deal completed before the transfer deadline (Sky Sports).

Piatek hasn’t been involved too much for Stefano Pioli’s side since the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovich, but he did feature on Tuesday evening.

The 24-year-old started up front alongside Ante Rebic in Milan’s Copa Italy quarterfinal clash against Torino, suggesting that Spurs and Milan are still quite far away from reaching an agreement.

The Rossoneri ran out 4-2 victors to seal their place in the semifinal but Piatek reportedly had a lacklustre game and was taken off in the 64th minute according to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold.

If a deal was close to being agreed between the two clubs, then I doubt Piatek would have been involved against Torino. The fact that he featured suggests that the Italian giants expect him to stay beyond the deadline. It could be that Spurs are looking at Piatek as an alternative in case they fail to land their primary targets.
