Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Atalanta midfielder, Ederson, but the Brazilian is now being suggested as a possible signing for Liverpool. Either way, the player himself has admitted he does like the idea of a switch to the Premier League.

Should Tottenham sign Ederson this summer?

It is well known that Tottenham are looking to sign a new central midfielder this summer, preferably a player who can operate as a 6 to protect the Spurs backline.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks to be moving on as Ange Postecoglou plots an upgrade in the middle of the park, and Atalanta’s Ederson is one of a number of names Spurs are thought to be looking at.

However, the fact that the Italian side triumphed in the Europa League final does make things complicated, as Champions League football awaits next season for Atalanta (Daily Mail).

Spurs reportedly face competition from both Liverpool and Newcastle United if they want to sign Ederson this summer (Jorge Nicola).

Ederson is happy to stay at Atalanta… for now

The player himself has spoken on the matter now and, in an interview with AS, has insisted he is happy with Atalanta, but would consider a move to the Premier League one day.

He said: “I’m happy at Atalanta, my focus is on Brazil [at Copa America] now. I like Italy but I’m also curious about the Premier League.

“The only possibility to leave is if Atalanta receive a proposal and then… they decide, it’s up to Atalanta.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This sounds like a very standard, diplomatic answer from a player who is in a very strong position right now. He’s thriving with Atalanta, has won a trophy, and has the chance to play in the Champions League next season.

However, there’s no doubt that if he was to be made an offer by a Premier League team, he would probably make that leap.
