Earlier this week it emerged that Tottenham were keeping an eye on Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou. Now, it has been revealed that the player has the same agent as Spurs man Brennan Johnson, which could offer the Lilywhites an advantage in the race to sign him.
It has been a busy year in the defensive area for Tottenham. Last summer, they signed Micky van de Ven to ease their frailties at the back, and the Dutchman has been revelatory in his debut season in the Premier League.
Alongside Cristian Romero, the 22-year-old has provided a composure and reliability that Spurs haven’t had for years.
Then, in January, the North London side added Radu Dragusin to their backline options, with the Romanian offering further strength in depth for Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Could Brennan Johnson be key to Kossounou?
Spurs may not be finished assembling that defensive roster, though, and according to SportBILD (via Sport Witness), Odilon Kossounou is thought to be a player the club are ‘watching’ ahead of the summer.
Manchester United are also keen, and a price tag of £43m may be a bit rich for Tottenham’s tastes, but there is one key piece of information that could open up the door for a switch to North London.
It turns out Kossounou is represented by Unique Sports Group, the same agency that represents Spurs winger Brennan Johnson. With that relationship already existing, there is a belief that this could help Tottenham secure the signature of the Ivorian defender this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
I’m not really sure how much this kind of thing really affects transfer negotiations, but it certainly doesn’t hurt our chances. I’ll be honest, though, there’s no way we are paying over £40m for a backup defender. Jonathan Tah is the far more likely candidate if we are looking at Leverkusen players.
