Reporter reveals what Spurs believe about Nuno’s style of football

Sky Sports reporter, Paul Gilmour has revealed that those within Tottenham believe that Nuno Espirito Santo can play attacking football next season (Sky Sports News (30/06/21 at 8:20 am).

Tottenham announced Nuno as the club’s new head coach this week after more than a 70 day period without a permanent boss in place.

However, some fans were previously against the appointment of the Portuguese coach, even starting a hashtag due to grievances with his style of play.

Daniel Levy had previously promised fans that they would be moving back to the classic Tottenham DNA of attractive and attacking football after 18 months with Jose Mourinho.

Gilmour revealed that Tottenham believe in Nuno’s ability to create an attacking side, even pointing towards some great attacking performances during his time at Wolves.

He said: “There is the belief within Tottenham, I should say, speaking to some people at Tottenham. They believe his teams can play attacking football.

“You talked to people who followed Wolves throughout his time, they will say he was ‘pragmatic’, which is different from boring or a dull side of play.

“But there have been nights, I remember Wolves beating Arsenal 3-1. I remember 4-0 away at Espanyol.

“There were moments when those teams and Nuno could adapt go on and go for the kill against sides.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I believe that Nuno will have been told that he has to create an attacking and entertaining team, which he is definitely capable of doing. He did so at Valencia, Porto and during periods with Wolves, and now he has far better attacking players at his disposal.
