Reports: Chelsea have £40m bid rejected for reported Spurs target – Willing to bid £50m

Sky Sports have claimed that Chelsea have submitted an offer to Everton for alleged Tottenham target Anthony Gordon.

It was reported by Football.London earlier this summer that Spurs had shown an interest in Gordon while negotiating with Everton about Richarlison.

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Antonio Conte’s men cooled their interest in the winger after the Toffees informed the Lilywhites he was not for sale.

Newcastle have also been linked with the 21-year-old (90 min), who won many admirers after breaking into the Everton first-team last season.

The Northern Echo even claimed a couple of weeks ago that Frank Lampard’s men had opened talks with the youngster regarding a new contract.

If Sky’s latest update is to be believed, Chelsea have now submitted a bid worth £40m to Everton for Gordon.

The report states the Blues are the third club to show interest in the Everton academy graduate following enquiries by Spurs and Newcastle earlier in the window.

However, Sky Sports add that the Merseyside club’s position in this transfer window is that Gordan is not for sale.

The Sun have since reported that Chelsea are willing to increase their bid to £50m for the Everton star this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Everton do change their stance and decide to let Gordon leave, one would expect Spurs to push Chelsea for the youngster. However, I believe it is highly unlikely that Everton will let the 21-year-old go as it looks like they could be in for another difficult season.
