Reports: Man City star open to Spurs move this summer

The Telegraph has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that Sergio Aguero would consider joining this summer.

There has been plenty of speculation over Harry Kane’s future over the last few weeks but reports suggest that the striker is expected to remain at Tottenham.

Even if Kane stays, the future of Carlos Vinicius is still up in the air, with Spurs reportedly yet to make a decision on whether they would make a permanent move for the Brazilian.

If Vinicius does return to Benfica at the end of his loan spell, the Lilywhites could be in the market for another striker.

The Telegraph reveals that while it is not clear if Aguero is on Tottenham’s radar, the striker is open to the prospect of making the move to the North London club as a free agent when his contract with City runs out at the end of the season.

It is said that the Argentine is open to staying in England and proving himself away from the Etihad Stadium.

The report suggests that the 32-year-old is even willing to forgo Champions League football next season if the move is the right one for him.

However, it is also suggested that clubs across Europe are expected make approaches for the City star, with his compatriot Lionel Messi happy to welcome him to Barcelona.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing a player of Aguero’s quality on a free transfer could be appealing for Spurs given the club’s current financial circumstances. However, it is not singing I see us making if Mourinho is still in charge next season.

The Portuguese coach prefers number nines in the mould of a Lukaku or Vinicius who can hold the ball up and provide a lot more than just goals. While Aguero is undoubtedly world-class, he is predominantly a penalty box striker.

If we do not sign Vinicius permanently, I would expect us to sign another target man like Wout Weghorst or to go for a more versatile option like Danny Ings, who can be used in multiple roles.
