Reports provide Tanganga loan update – Negotiations underway with AC Milan

AC Milan are interested in Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga with both clubs set to continue talks about a potential loan move into next week, according to reports.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Rossoneri have made the 23-year-old a main defensive target and have already started laying the groundwork to secure a temporary switch this summer.

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (15/07/22 — via Sport Witness) adds that negotiations over a loan have got underway between Milan and Spurs, with a deal likely to include an option to make the move permanent.

Meanwhile, journalist Gianluigi Longari echoes the structure of the deal and states new talks are expected next week, although LaLiga side Valencia have also apparently made initial enquiries.

Tanganga, who burst into the Spurs first-team two years ago, has struggled to push forward in North London with injuries hampering his progression.

He was limited to just 11 appearances in the Premier League last term (Transfermarkt) after suffering a knee injury which ruled him out of action from February.

The England youth international underwent surgery to fix the problem in March but has since returned to full fitness and training over the pre-season period.

Tanganga is one of the fringe players at Spurs and it will be difficult for him to get much action next season with all the players in defence competing for places.

A loan could be good for his development, though, but Spurs may end up wanting to keep him on board given he fulfils part of the homegrown quota for the squad.
