According to reports in Turkey, Galatasaray will look to loan Victor Nelsson out in the January transfer window in an attempt to raise his value.

Meanwhile, a report from Denmark suggests Spurs may have an advantage in the race to sign him, due to Nelsson signing with a London-based agency.

Tottenham were in dire need of new centre-halves in the summer, after their defensive frailties were exposed last season quite dramatically.

The signing of Micky van de Ven went a long way to alleviating those concerns, while youngster Ashley Phillips arrived with plenty of promise, too.

However, the injury to van de Ven has left Ange Postecoglou‘s backline vulnerable, and defensive reinforcements in January appear to be a must.

Spurs may win the race for Victor Nelsson

Tottenham were reportedly keen on Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelsson in the summer, and  Star Gazetesi reported recently that the North London side see the Denmark international as a top priority for the upcoming window.

Now, Takvim have shed further light on Nelsson’s situation, claiming his current club will let him go in January, but may be more inclined to agree to a loan deal. Apparently, Galatasaray don’t want him to leave for less than €20-25m (£17.5-21.8m), though.

The Turkish outfit hope that a loan move to one of Europe’s top five leagues may bump up Nelsson’s value.

Spurs are mentioned as a potential destination in that report, but according to Tipsbladet, the Lilywhites may have just got a boost in their pursuit of the 25-year-old. That’s because he just signed with the Elite Project Group agency, who are based in London.

I think we’ll either be able to get a relatively fair price for Nelsson, or loan him in and see how things go, but either way he’s someone we should look at. He’s strong and aggressive, but great with a ball at his feet too – just what Postecoglou needs.
