Reports: Spurs player has agreed personal terms, transfer in ‘the final stages’

Multiple Argentinian journalists are now reporting that Giovani Lo Celso’s proposed move to Villarreal is on track to go through.

Fabrizio Romano claimed a couple of days ago that Villarreal are confident of winning the race for Lo Celso.

Gianluca Di Marzio then suggested on Monday that Fiorentina are ready to pounce should the La Liga club fail to agree on a deal with Spurs. He added that the Serie A club were ready to make a loan offer with an obligation to buy the Argentine for €20m (£16.9m).

Fiorentina’s interest in Lo Celso was also backed up by La Nazione (08/08/22 via Fiorentina.it and SportWitness), who claimed the Italian club were set to meet with the player’s entourage on Thursday to discuss a transfer.

However, TYC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has now taken to social media to state that Fiorentina have never held advanced talks for the Tottenham man.

He claims that Spurs and Villarreal are in the final stages of negotiations over Lo Celso and the midfielder is expected to return to the La Liga club on a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy.

Meanwhile, Radio La Red journalist German Garcia Grova has revealed that the 26-year-old has already agreed on personal terms with Villarreal ahead of a return to El Madrigal.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems like only Italian publications (who have presumably been fed information by sources inside Fiorentina) believe that the race for Lo Celso is still open. Every other news outlet seems to be suggesting that it is only a matter of time before the Argentine completes his move to Villarreal.
