Reports suggest AS Roma will offer Spurs midfielder a shock exit

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has been linked with a surprise move to Italian side AS Roma, according to La Repubblica.

The Giallorossi have their eyes on Sevilla’s Steven Nzonzi but have made Victor Wanyama their main target should their efforts not succeed in signing the French international.

However, it is believed Nzonzi would rather a move back to the Premier League where he spent six years playing for Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

Therefore, the Kenyan midfielder is believed to be their prime target and Spurs are reportedly open to listening to offers for the 27-year-old.

Wanyama is currently suffering from yet another knee injury which he picked up ironically during Tottenham’s 4-1 victory over Roma last month during the International Champions Cup and is expected to miss the start of the season.

Unlike the Premier League, Serie A’s transfer window does not shut until 17 August meaning Roma still have over one week to make their move for Wanyama.

Spurs fans, considering Wanyama’s ongoing injury issue could this be a smart move for the right offer?
