Richarlison sends classy message to Heung-min Son after World Cup clash

Tottenham teammates Richarlison and Heung-min Son went head-to-head last night in the knockouts of the World Cup, but a tweet from Richarlison after the game proves the pair are still good friends despite Brazil knocking South Korea out of the tournament.

Brazil comfortably defeated South Korea 4-1 on Monday evening to sail through to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup and it was an impressive display all-round from the South American team.

Goals from Vinicius Junior, a Neymar penalty, and a brilliant goal from Richarlison himself put the Samba side in control within 30 minutes, before a goal from West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta all but sealed the win before half-time.

South Korea did manage to pull a goal back in the second half, but were simply outclassed by superior opposition.

Richarlison is having an incredible tournament, and with three goals to his name already he is firmly in the running to win the Golden Boot in Qatar (Telegraph), especially if Brazil can go all the way as many expect.

For Heung-min Son, though, it’s heartbreak as his South Korea side exit the tournament now and the 30-year-old turns his attention to the second half of the season with Spurs.

In a touching social media post from Richarlison after the game, he offered condolences to his club teammate along with an image of him and Son embracing on the field.

He said: “I know how hard you fought to be here and that’s why you’re a hero to your people Sonny.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Both Sonny and Richarlison come across as two of the nicest people in the sport and it’s lovely to see Richarlison speaking so fondly of his teammate after the game. There’s clearly a great level of respect there and it just shows the togetherness of the Spurs squad right now that they care for each other so much despite being on different sides at the World Cup.
