‘Rightly so’ – Harry Kane comments on Haaland’s red-hot form for Man City

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has commented on the impressive start to the season for Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, but insists he is not really paying much attention to his exploits in the Premier League.

Haaland joined Manchester City in the summer from Borussia Dortmund in a deal believed to be worth £51 million (Sky Sports). The Norwegian has taken to the English game with ease, and currently leads the scoring charts in the Premier League.

With 20 goals in his first 13 games for Manchester City, 15 of which have come in the league (Transfermarkt), Haaland appears to be nailed on to win the Golden Boot this year.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane has started the season in great form too, but has been completely overshadowed by the 22-year-old.

Kane has historically been rather slow to get going in previous seasons, but the England captain has eight goals in his first nine league games (Transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old recently said there is ‘a long way to go’ in the race for the Golden Boot this year (ViaPlay).

Now, in a press conference (via Football.London) ahead of Spurs’ Champions League clash with Frankfurt, Kane stated that the form of Haaland, or any other player for that matter, is not really something he worries about.

He said: “I’m not someone who likes to think or talk about other players or talk about them. [Haaland has] had a fantastic start to the season, and I’m just looking to contribute to the team as much as I can.

“It’s going well in the Premier League and I’d like to score a few more in the Champions League. People are talking about [Haaland] and rightly so.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Harry Kane has got the right idea here. Let Erling Haaland do his thing and just concentrate on scoring goals for Spurs and winning the games you have control over. Unless we’re playing against Manchester City, there’s nothing Kane can do to affect Haaland’s game, so it’s pointless losing sleep over it.
