Rio Ferdinand claims Spurs player will be ‘back in the groove’ soon

Rio Ferdinand believes Harry Kane will be ‘back in the groove’ at Tottenham, after confirming his future at the club, for this summer at least.

Kane had been the subject of constant transfer speculation all summer, linking him with a big-money move to Manchester City.

A move, never materialised after City were unable to get close to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s reported £160 million asking price, meaning Kane would be remaining in north London beyond the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old confirmed his Spurs status on social media, and claims he is looking forward to helping Nuno Espirito Santo’s side get over the line in the quest for that elusive piece of silverware.

However, there is a lingering feeling of doubt, in my view, on whether the talisman will be able to return to the peak of his powers for the club, after coming off his most productive season to date.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes Kane will have no problems getting back to the standards he sets himself and cites the forward’s professionalism as a key factor for that.

“There was a bit of uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane, the uncertainty and the pantomime surrounding Harry Kane and Levy, will he stay or will he go,” the ex-England international said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.

“Kane has been told now that he needs to get with the programme. There will be no question about whether or not he will do that, Kane is a professional and his sights are on being the Premier League’s top goalscorer of all time. He’s a top professional for sure and he’ll be back in the groove soon for sure.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Many Spurs fans have been unsure on Kane’s return due to his (and his team’s) actions in seeking an exit from the club in the summer. But, he seems like the type of player to get his head down regardless of the situation he is in and try to get back to the level he has been performing at for years. It will only be a matter of time before he does that.
