Journalist Ben Jacobs has now broken some huge news regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Roberto De Zerbi.
On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tottenham are continuing to work hard on bringing De Zerbi through the door after parting ways with Thomas Frank.
Romano revealed that the Italian is the Lilywhites’ dream managerial target, but some sources suggested that the former Brighton boss may not have the appetite to take charge of a relegation battle at Spurs.
Tottenham were expecting a final answer from De Zerbi today, and they now appear to have got an answer.

Roberto De Zerbi is close to reaching an agreement with Tottenham
Ben Jacobs has now revealed that the temperamental Italian is now edging close to becoming the next Tottenham head coach.
The journalist explained that De Zerbi had initially informed Spurs that he wanted to wait until the summer, but there has now been a breakthrough in talks.
The North London club have now offered him a five-year contract, which has made the 46-year-old more open to accepting the job.
Jacobs wrote on X: “Roberto De Zerbi is now close to an agreement with Spurs following a breakthrough in talks. Five-year contract on offer. De Zerbi had told Spurs last week he wanted to wait until summer, but a lucrative long-term deal has made him open to taking the job now.”
De Zerbi’s appointment may not go down well with some Spurs fans
Multiple Tottenham fan groups have launched online campaigns to stop Spurs from appointing De Zerbi, given the Italian’s controversial past.
This stems from De Zerbi’s comments on Mason Greenwood, who moved to Marseille in 2024, two years after the forward was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, before the charges were dropped due to the withdrawal of key witnesses.
The fan groups suggested De Zerbi’s comments about Greenwood ‘raise serious questions about his judgement and leadership’, and felt that his appointment would not send a good signal about Tottenham’s values as a club.
