Reports in Italy have suggested that a Serie A defender may be joining Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
While Spurs are not yet assured of their place in the Premier League next season, it appears the Lilywhites have started putting plans in place for the summer transfer window.
De Zerbi is expected to have a big say on Tottenham’s squad rebuild this summer after agreeing a five-year deal with the North London club.
It has been suggested over recent weeks that a left-back, who was previously managed by De Zerbi, is on the Lilywhites’ radar, and a new update has talked up the possibility of the defender moving to N17.

Pervis Estupinan set for AC Milan exit amid Tottenham’s interest
Reports from Italy have claimed over recent weeks Tottenham had set their sights on Pervis Estupinan, who swapped Brighton for AC Milan last summer.
The 28-year-old, who impressed under De Zerbi at the Amex Stadium, has not had the expected impact at the San Siro, and it is now being suggested that Milan have already made a decision on his future.
This is according to MilanLive, which says that the Rossoneri are unlikely to keep the Ecuadorian international beyond this season.
The outlet says that the player and the Serie A giants are ‘destined to part ways’ this summer and that De Zerbi ‘is ready to take him back’.
Spurs can land Estupinan for a cut-price fee
Interestingly, it was suggested earlier this month that Milan are willing to accept a loss on the former Brighton man after he failed to convince them with his performances.
That report came from CalcioMercato, who said that despite paying €19m (£16.4m) including bonuses to sign the defender last summer, Milan are ready to sell Estupinan for around €14m (£12m) this summer.
At that price, one would expect other Premier League clubs to also be interested in the left-back, but the De Zerbi factor may give the Lilywhites an advantage.
