Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has named four players who impressed him in Spurs’ clash against Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham Hotspur finally ended their run of two defeats in a row in the Premier League today in their clash against Nottingham Forest.

While it was not the prettiest of displays, the Lilywhites were able to secure a 0-0 draw, earning their first point of the league campaign.

That singular point has now seen Tottenham leave the foot of the Premier League table and out of the relegation zone into 17th place.

Spurs did make a significant improvement in their clash against Forest, with the Lilywhites managing their first clean sheet of the season after conceding five in their opening two games.

Defensively, Tottenham looked solid and gave fewer chances away, while in midfield De Zerbi’s men were a lot more robust and difficult to play through.

That performance has certainly left the Tottenham boss pleased. Speaking to football.london, following the game, De Zerbi highlighted four players who he believes had a good match for Spurs.

He said: “Great game, Bentancur. Tonali, Gallagher, VDV great game. I am sorry because Savio and Destiny in that moment I think they could play something more than 60 minutes but there was a plan with the medical staff not to take risks and I cannot decide like the pitch says.”

Rodrigo Bentancur shines in improved display

Rodrigo Bentancur was really a top performer against Forest and was arguably the best player on the pitch for Tottenham.

The Uruguayan put in an underrated performance in the middle of the park. It certainly was nothing extremely flashy, but the experienced midfielder was tidy in midfield and did the simple things well.

His passes were not elaborate but were often released at the right time, helping to keep the ball moving in midfield.

Defensively, he was also immense, with the midfielder managing 18 defensive contributions, the most in the entire match.
