Alasdair Gold reveals what his sources at Tottenham Hotspur are telling him about the club’s pursuit of Roberto De Zerbi.
It had been reported by several key sources over the last few days that De Zerbi is Tottenham’s dream managerial candidate to replace Igor Tudor.
The Lilywhites have stepped up their pursuit of the Italian earlier today, and it appears that there has been a lot of progress.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reported a few hours ago that De Zerbi is nearing an agreement with Spurs on a five-year deal after the two parties reached a breakthrough.

Tottenham feel they are closing in on Roberto De Zerbi
Alasdair Gold has now revealed that the feeling inside the North London club is that they are ‘closing in’ on the former Brighton boss.
The journalist added that De Zerbi’s style of football was one of the main attractions for Spurs, but he questioned if the Italian would be a viable long-term option, given his own and the club’s history.
Gold wrote on X: “Feeling within Spurs is they’re closing in on their man in Roberto De Zerbi. His football matches how club want to play. Question marks over how quickly he can implement it & reaction to his Greenwood comments. Track record doesn’t scream long term but Spurs rarely do long term.”
How will Spurs fans react if De Zerbi’s appointment is confirmed?
Several Tottenham fan groups have already raised their voice against the idea of De Zerbi’s appointment, given his comments about Mason Greenwood. They have alleged that the Italian’s appointment will reflect poorly on the North London club’s values.
If De Zerbi does arrive through the door at N17, he may thus have some work to do to win over the Tottenham faithful.
