Roberto De Zerbi decided against giving himself a day off on Monday after seeing his side pick up a crucial win against Aston Villa.

Spurs fans will be breathing much easier now than they have been for the past couple of months after seeing Tottenham deliver a dominant display at Villa Park and emerge 2-1 winners.

The result came after West Ham fell to a 3-0 loss at Brentford on Saturday, which means that the Lilywhites are now out of the bottom three.

De Zerbi was extremely complimentary of his players for the spirit and quality they showed on Sunday, and it appears that the Italian is already preparing for his side’s upcoming game.

Nottingham Forest have all but secured their Premier League status after a dominant 3-1 win at Chelsea on Monday, which has seen them move five points clear of the Lilywhites.

Interestingly, De Zerbi was spotted watching on from the stands at Stamford Bridge as Forest put the West London club to the sword.

While the Italian may have preferred a different result, he was likely present in order to get a better look at Chelsea, who are one of Tottenham’s three remaining opponents this season.

The Lilywhites travel to Stamford Bridge on May 19 for their penultimate game of the season, and there could be a huge amount riding on the fixture.

Chelsea will likely bring their A-game against Spurs

Tottenham fans will take heart from the fact that the Blues are in a terrible run of form at the moment.

Chelsea will also be involved in FA Cup final action three days before the London derby, which may give the away side the advantage.

However, there is nothing Chelsea fans will love more than being the ones to relegate Tottenham, and Spurs should expect their rivals to make things extremely difficult for them.

Given the passion that De Zerbi and his players have shown over recent weeks, some will wonder if the battle of the bridge 2.0 is on the cards.
