Rock legend shows his class towards iconic Spurs star

Jimmy Greaves has reportedly been supported in his battle against illness by rockstar Phil Collins, according to the Daily Star.

The club revealed last Tuesday that the legendary striker had been admitted to hospital and was undergoing treatment for an unspecified illness.

On hearing of the legendary striker’s condition, some Spurs fans took to social media to send him and his family a heartfelt message, and Greaves’ family asked the club to pass on their thanks to all the well-wishers.

The Daily Star have now reported that Collins, who is best known as the drummer/singer of Genesis, reportedly idolised Greaves as a child.

The rock star has been supporting the 80-year-old by privately donating money towards his treatment.

The former World Cup winner’s agent, Terry Baker, gave up an update on Greaves’ condition and revealed that Collins made a generous donation to the striker’s treatment.

Speaking to the Star, Baker said: “Phil Collins phones me regularly to see how Jimmy is and made a substantial donation.

“Jimmy isn’t a well man but he is in hospital receiving the best possible care thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses of the NHS at this difficult time for everyone.”
