A Serie A club are about to give up on their pursuit of a Tottenham youngster following recent developments at the North London club.
Tottenham’s situation up front suddenly looks a lot better than it did a few weeks ago, even though Dominic Solanke has still not returned from his injury.
Richarlison has rediscovered some form in front of the goal, while Randal Kolo Muani is getting better with outing.
However, the real curious case is that of Mathys Tel, who has been heavily linked with a move to AS Roma after not starting a game for Tottenham since the start of October.

Roma may be ready to call off the pursuit of Tottenham forward Mathys Tel
Some outlets have even claimed that Tel is seen as the ‘perfect fit’ by the Roma hierarchy, but recent developments at N17 have now come as a blow to the Serie A club.
This is according to a report in Il Messaggero, which claims that the Italian side are about to ‘raise the white flag’ in their pursuit of Tel.
This is because Roma have noticed that the Frenchman has been coming off the bench regularly for Tottenham over recent weeks.
Additionally, it is pointed out that Spurs have now added Tel to their Champions League squad after initially leaving him out.
The fact that the Frenchman is getting regular minutes at N17 is making the Giallorossi’s pursuit of the forward ‘increasingly complicated’.
Tel may get a run of starts at Spurs
Frank has publicly bemoaned the fact that no player has made the left-wing spot his own despite getting plenty of opportunities.
Interestingly, Tel has impressed on the left when he has come on over recent weeks, looking lively on the ball and sharp in the final third.
The Dane may now give the 20-year-old a run of starts so that he can stake a claim for a place in Spurs’ starting eleven, and that would put an end to any suggestions that he could be offloaded in January.
