Romano reveals Chelsea in talks for star Spurs reportedly agreed a fee for

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea have now officially opened talks with Spanish club Sevilla for central defender Jules Kounde.

The journalist claimed that Kounde has become Chelsea’s top centre-back target this summer and negotiations are ongoing between the Blues and Sevilla.

Romano also added that Kounde himself is open to moving to the Champions League winners because he wants top European football next season.

Gianluca Dimarzio already reported this summer that Spurs had agreed a fee with Sevilla for Kounde, with the deal involving €30m plus Davinson Sanchez.

The Athletic reported at the time that Spurs and Sevilla were in constant contact about the French defender and the clubs even came to an agreement.

However, Kounde himself apparently turned down to move because he wanted Champions League football next season.

Of course, Sevilla and Spurs eventually did business in the recent player-plus-cash deal involving Erik Lamela and Bryan Gil.

Spurs Web Opinion:

That is likely to be the Kounde race over. Chelsea will have the money to blow Spurs out of the water and the Champions League football to attract the player himself. Tottenham need to make sure that they get Cristian Romero over the line now.
