Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Inter Milan are confident that rumoured Tottenham target Milan Skriniar will sign a new contract.
With Skriniar’s current contract at the San Siro running out next summer (Transfermarkt), the centre-back has been mooted as a target for the likes of Tottenham (FCInterNews), Manchester City, Chelsea (The Sun), Paris Saint-Germain (GFFN), and Barcelona (Mundo Deportivo) over recent weeks.
Sky Sports Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said earlier this month that Inter will offer a salary of around €6m-€6.5m (£5.2m-£5.7m) per year to the 27-year-old, which is alleged to be lower than what Paris Saint-Germain were willing to offer in the summer (Sempre Inter).
Tuttosport subsequently claimed that Inter could sell the centre-back for a fee of around €20m-€25m (£17.3-£21.6m) in January if they fail to agree on a new deal with the player before the transfer window reopens.
Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the Nerazzurri hierarchy will meet with Skriniar’s agents in the next few weeks to discuss a new contract.
The journalist revealed that the Serie A giants will offer the Slovak an increased salary and the captain’s armband to convince him to sign on the dotted line.

I always thought that Skriniar would sign a new contract with Inter. If the Serie A giants felt that the centre-back is unlikely to sign a new deal, they would have probably cashed in on him in the summer as PSG were willing to pay a big fee for him at the time.
