Romano says decision will be made in ‘few days’ on Tottenham transfer target

Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the future of Alejo Veliz will be resolved in the next few days after Tottenham made an approach for the striker.

Veliz is widely considered to be one of the best emerging talents in Argentine football, with the centre-forward winning many admirers with his eye for goal and his all-around play since breaking into Rosario Central’s startling eleven.

TYC Sports reporter Cesar Luis Melo reported on Wednesday that Spurs have made a ‘formal offer’ to sign the 19-year-old and added that Rosario are hoping to hang on to the striker until the end of the year even if a deal is agreed.

This was also backed up by Mundo Albiceleste, who claimed that the deal to take Veliz to Tottenham is expected to cost around $15m (£11.8m).

However, Romano has now asserted that even though Spurs have held ‘concrete negotiations’ with Rosario Central for the Argentine striker, there is no agreement between the parties as of yet.

The journalist claimed that a final decision is expected to be made about Veliz’s future over the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

Veliz is certainly an exciting talent but the likelihood is that he will be loaned back to Rosario until the end of the current Argentinean top-flight season.

So, the 19-year-old is likely not seen by Spurs as a direct replacement for Harry Kane. I believe that the club are likely to make a move for an established name such as Jonathan David or Dusan Vlahovic if the England captain joins Bayern.
