Roy Hodgson warns Spurs about moving for Brendan Rodgers

Roy Hodgson has warned Daniel Levy that he would have his work cut out to convince Brendan Rodgers to leave Leicester to take over at Tottenham.

Rodgers is reportedly one of the names on Tottenham’s radar, with the Leicester boss thought to have many admirers at Spurs.

The Sun have even claimed that the North Londoners are confident that they can attract the 48-year-old to the club in the summer despite the fact that Leicester are currently sitting third in the Premier League table.

Tottenham are currently way off the pace for Champions League football next season and may struggle to even qualify for the Europa League.

Rodgers admitted last week that while Tottenham were a fantastic club, he was fully focused on his job at hand at the King Power Stadium.

Hodgson believes that the Northern Irishman would not be tempted to jump ship just because Spurs are a bigger club than the Foxes.

He also insisted that the Lilywhites would find it difficult to persuade the former Liverpool boss that his future would be better if he moved.

When asked about the speculation linking Rodgers with the Tottenham hot seat, the Crystal Palace boss told TEAMtalk: “Brendan is doing extremely well at Leicester.

“I think he must be very happy to have been given that job. He’s assembled the group of players that he has and is much enjoying his success with them.

“I think, if other clubs want to tempt him away, it will not be easy and as simple as suggesting that historically we happen to be a bit of a bigger club than the one you are at.

“They [Spurs] would have to persuade him that his future will be much better if he moves. But that will not necessarily be an easy thing to do.

“What he is doing at Leicester, the players he has at Leicester, the support he has at Leicester, the way the future looks for Leicester, all of these things are very positive aspects.”
