Roy Keane could not resist taking a dig at Spurs in West Ham comparison

Roy Keane predictably took a dig at Tottenham while criticising West Ham United after their loss to Manchester United on Wednesday.

Spurs could have found themselves one home game against Blackburn Rovers away from being a Wembley FA Cup semifinal (given how the quarterfinal draw has panned out) had they overcome a weakened Sheffield United side.

Instead, the Lilywhites delivered a lacklustre display and looked toothless in attack without their talisman Harry Kane, eventually falling to a 1-0 loss at Bramall Lane, courtesy of Iliman Ndiaye’s 79th-minute strike.

The result means that Spurs’ 15-year trophy drought looks set to continue for one more year unless they manage to do something extremely special in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, West Ham were also eliminated from the competition on the same evening, with Man Utd coming from a goal down to win 3-1 at Old Trafford.

While analysing the game, Keane could not resist taking a dig at Tottenham.

The Man Utd legend told ITV Sport: “Seen it all before. They come, they get a bit giddy, they have opportunities.”

When asked if he was talking about West Ham in particular, Keane added: “It’s loads of teams – not just West Ham but the Spurs’ of this world.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It would not be like to miss an opportunity to dig out Tottenham.

We certainly cannot say we do not deserve it, given our tendency to constantly throw away opportunities to win silverware, year in, year out.
