Tottenham fan Roy Keane has named Spurs as the team he hopes will overachieve this season, but Jill Scott doesn’t share his view.

The 26-27 Premier League season is set to begin this weekend with Arsenal kicking things off with a clash against Coventry.

Tottenham Hotspur then follow suit on Saturday with the final game of the day when they take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Roberto De Zerbi will be hoping to get off to a winning start after his side’s strong pre-season summer camp, where Spurs went unbeaten in their eight friendly matches.

Roy Keane predicts Tottenham to be biggest overachievers this season

Ahead of the Premier League season kick-off on Friday night, a few pundits sent in their predictions for the new campaign.

This included Roy Keane and Jill Scott on the Overlap, with the pair naming their Premier League champions predictions, player of the season, overachievers as well as underachievers.

When asked who he expects to be the champions of England this season, Roy Keane said Arsenal; as for his player of the season, the former United midfielder had Bruno Fernandes as his pick.

For the league’s top scorer, Keane predicted Erling Haaland, and for his underachievers, he went Newcastle United and Fulham.

However, for the side likely to overachieve, Keane named Spurs as his pick. He said: “Do you know what? I’m hoping Spurs will have a good season with their signings and obviously the new manager going in there, having had the big fright last year of relegation nearly hopefully it’ll be Spurs.

Jill Scott disagrees with Roy Keane and tips Spurs to underachieve

Jill Scott, however, does not agree with Keane’s take, with The Overlap presenter instead having Tottenham as her prediction for the biggest underachievers.

He said: “I think with Tottenham’s signings people will be expecting them to do really well and I think yeah, I don’t think they’ll be like Champions League or Europe places.”

Meanwhile, newly promoted Coventry was her pick for biggest overachievers this season; she continued: “I think Coventry will stay up so yeah”

With pre-season preparations out of the way, Roberto De Zerbi’s side will now be focused on improving on their league finish this season after consecutive 17th-place finishes.
