Rumour Mill: Pau Lopez Deal Hitting a Snag

An article from TalkSport reports that the deal to take Spanish goalkeeper Pau Lopez to Tottenham on a permanent basis is not yet complete, due to disagreements over the transfer fee.

On last Summer’s transfer deadline day, Tottenham announced the arrival of 22 year old shot-stopper Pau Lopez on a season long loan. Since then, the Spaniard is yet to make an appearance. However, it seems Mauricio Pochettino is working hard to secure the ‘keeper’s place in North London on a permanent basis.

Lopez and Pochettino had worked together previously during the Argentine’s reign over Espanyol. Pau lopez, at the time, was a youth prospect. Now 22, the two are together again at Spurs. However, the season long loan that brought him to the Lane runs out this Summer. TalkSport reports that a deal to see him stay in North London is nearing completion with just one key detail needing ironed out.

It is understood that Tottenham are trying to lower the £6 million fee stated in the purchase option from the original deal. Spanish newspaper Sport reveals that Spurs and Espanyol are still working on coming to an agreement to find a swift resolution that benefits both parties.

Of course, with Michel Vorm and Hugo Lloris veterans in-between the sticks, we need a quality young ‘keeper capable of taking over the reigns, whenever that may be. Would Pau Lopez be your choice?
