For the third day in a row, Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer is the subject of transfer talk in the newspapers.
At this rate, big Kev will be receiving as many transfer gossip headlines as Ronaldo. According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton are said to be keen on signing the big Austrian as they look to bolster their defensive ranks following the departure of Jose Fonte to West Ham in the January transfer window.
On Saturday, we reported that it was claimed in the media that Spurs want £20m for Wimmer however the Mirror’s story states that Southampton are not prepared to meet such a valuation.
Wimmer joined Spurs from Cologne a couple of years back for £4.3million. You have to admit that although Daniel Levy is a genius at negotiating, but asking £20million for Wimmer would certainly be pushing it. I’d be happy with £8million!
Wimmer’s a solid squad player, but he’ll be nothing more than that at Tottenham. Nobody can surely expect to displace Vertonghen and Alderweireld?
