Rumour Mill: Spurs Hijacking Chelsea Transfer?

According to SkySources, Tottenham have stolen a march on Chelsea in their persuit of Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, having agreed a fee for the forward this morning.

Over the past few days, Chelsea have appeared to be the uncontested favourites to sign 32 year old Spaniard Fernando Llorente from Swansea City.

However, according to SkySources, Spurs opened negotiations over the striker yesterday afternoon, and just this morning a bid was accepted by the Welsh outfit making Spurs the new favourites to land the experienced attacker.

It is understood that Tottenham’s bid was higher than the £15 million Chelsea offered for the Spaniard earlier in the week, as reported by the Guardian.

Their article also suggests that bringing in the Premier League proven Llorente would signal the end of Vincent Janssen’s time at the club, while West Brom remain interested in the Dutchman.

Llorente made 33 Premier League appearances for Swansea last season, scoring 15 goals and has netted over 100 times in his career during spells at Spanish sides Atheltic Bilbao and Sevilla, as well as Italian giants Juventus.

While there is still time for Chelsea to make an imrpoved offer, it is generally understood that Antonio Conte won’t give up on the deal without a fight, having already missed out on a number of transfer targets already this Summer.

Are you hopeful Llorente will join Spurs?
