Rumour Mill: Spurs Trailing Barca Midfielder?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the prospect of signing 24 year old Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, who was made available for loan just yesterday.

Since joining Barcelona from Valencia in 2016, Gomes has had a frustrating time at the Nou Camp, having made just 17 starts last season in La Liga.

Hoping to kick-start the Portuguese international’s career, Barcelona made Gomes available for loan just yesterday evening, which has reportedly attracted interest from London rivals Tottenham and West Ham.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs and the Hammers are to battle it out over the 24 year old’s services throughout the course of deadline day, while the player is itching for regular first-team football.

West Ham, who recently missed out on the big money signing of William Carvalho, may turn their attention to the out-of-favour midfielder, whereas Juventus are also rumoured to be monitoring the situation.

SkySources have additionally suggested that Barcelona may even be open to the permanent transfer of the midfielder who scored just 3 goals since joining the Spanish giants.

Last Summer, Gomes was considered one of Europe’s hottest prospects after an impressive showing in the European Championships in France.
