Rumour Mill: Watford and Spurs chasing Colombian defender?

According to numerous reports in both England and Italy, Tottenham are in a tussle with Watford over the availability of Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo.

According to Hertfordshire Mercury, the two London clubs Watford and Spurs are showing interest in the 24 year old Colombian defender, who’s played 30 times for Inter Milan this season, scoring and assisting once. It is also suggested that Inter are open to selling the centre back, but only for the right price.

Tottenham, who’ve played three at the back for large parts of the season, may be on the look out for an extra defender, given Eric Dier’s preference to play in midfield. Kevin Wimmer has failed to get many minutes this season, so it’s not implausible that Spurs could be eyeing a move for the South American.

FCInterNews, a source very close to the Italian club, are claiming that Tottenham have made more than one enquiry already about the potential for the defender to make a Summer move to North London. Should any deal come to fruition it is expected that Spurs will be able to offer more to the Colombian than Watford, delivering Champions League football, title prospects and a new stadium within a year or two.

Other less reputable sources claim the fee could be as high as £30 million, should a transfer deal start taking shape. At the moment however, this is all mere speculation and another thing us Spurs fans may want to keep our eyes on.
