Rumoured European club interest in Tottenham defender

Tottenham have received strong interest from multiple European heavyweights regarding the future of right-back Serge Aurier.

Reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund have shown considerable interest in the Ivory Coast wing-back over the past few days, but the player is expected to stay at Spurs.

Dortmund are said to be looking for a new defender before the window shuts on August 31.

This isn’t the first time that Spurs have been contacted over Aurier’s services this window either, as Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are rumoured to have made on offer for the player, according to HITC.

It is unclear how much money was offered, but Spurs are understood to have been unwilling to part company with the full-back after just one season at the club.

Since arriving in North London from PSG for a fee of around £23m, Aurier has made 18 appearances, scoring two goals in that time.

But perhaps what has turned more heads, is the defender’s reputation for making mistakes, whether it be fouls, red cards, or penalties.

Should Spurs have taken the money for Aurier? Would Kyle Walker-Peters have been a ready-made replacement?
