Rumoured Spurs target admits a move to London interests him

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Jerome Boateng has admitted that he would be open to a new challenge and that London is one of the cities he would like to experience living in.

The 32-year-old’s contract at the Allianz Arena is set to run out at the end of the season and reports indicate that Spurs were monitoring the central defender’s situation closely.

SportBild via (Daily Mail) have claimed that Bayern have decided against offering Boateng a new contract and that Spurs are locked in a battle against their London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for the experienced defender’s signature.

When asked about Tottenham’s rumoured approach last week, the defender denied suggestions that the North Londoners had contacted his representatives (Suddeutsche Zeitung as relayed by Evening Standard).

The World Cup winner has now admitted that a move to London does appeal to him.

Boateng told Goal.com: “As you have correctly stated, I am a person who loves to get to know new cities, new cultures and new people,” Boateng told Goal on his future plans.

“I’m actually not the type who likes to stay in one place for a long time. Accordingly, Paris, London, but also cities outside Europe are interesting for me.”

When asked about his contract situation at the Bundesliga giants, the defender said: “I was surprised by the coverage and would have liked to have sat down beforehand. But now I don’t deal with it anymore.

“I have always said that I would like to get to know something different and take on a new challenge.”
