Rumoured Spurs target admits he modelled his game on Christian Eriksen

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Mikkel Damsgaard has admitted that Christian Eriksen was one of his footballing inspirations when he was growing up.

Eriksen’s terrifying collapse during Denmark’s European Championship opener against Finald shook the entire footballing world.

It was later confirmed that former Spurs midfielder, who had dazzled fans over the years with his vision and guile on the ball, had suffered a cardiac arrest during the game, with the medical staff having to revive him using a defibrillator.

Eriksen’s Danish teammates were visibly traumatised by the incident when it occurred but following the Inter Milan’s star’s recovery, the incident seems to have galvanised the side, who secured their place in the semi-final yesterday with victory against the Czech Republic.

Damsgaard, who Fabio Paratici is reportedly keen on bringing to Spurs this summer, has been one of the Danes’ standout performers in the Euros so far.

The 22-year-old Sampdoria star has now admitted he learned a lot from watching his international teammate, Eriksen in action.

Damsgaard told Tuttomercatoweb: “I can say I was inspired by him. He’s one of the players I’ve studied the most, I really admired him. Since then I’ve always played as number 10.”

The Danish players won a lot of hearts at the way they handled themselves during the terrifying Eriksen incident. Events like that can certainly create a belief within the squad that this tournament is there’s to win, which is why I believe Kasper Hjulmand’s side are my outside shout to win the Euros.
