Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing Frank Kessie appear to be over after the midfielder admitted that he wants to stay put at AC Milan for the remainder of his career.

Kessie has developed into of the best box-to-box midfielders in Italian football since arriving in Milan four years ago.

The midfielder’s agent admitted last month that Tottenham were one of the clubs that held an interest in his client (TMW) and the reports linking the North London club with the Ivorian got some Spurs fans on social media really excited.

Eurosport revealed a couple of weeks ago that Milan’s attempts to tie down the 24-year-old to a new deal had failed so far due to the player’s excessive salary demands.

The report asserted that the Lilywhites were at the front of the queue for the AC Milan star’s signature, with Fabio Paratici identifying him as the man to bolster the Tottenham midfield.

However, Kessie has now admitted that he is in talks with the Rossoneri hierarchy over a new contract, insisting that he has no plans to leave the San Siro.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “I want to stay at AC Milan forever.

“I’m proud of this club and I’m not planning to leave AC Milan, absolutely.”

The fact that Kessie’s agent was happy to fuel the speculation linking his client with a move to Spurs, suggests that the rumours were fed to the press to strengthen the player’s bargaining position during negotiations for a new deal. So, I am not surprised that the 24-year-old has admitted his desire to stay at Milan.
