Rumoured Spurs target available on a free transfer after his contract is terminated

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that they have terminated Diego Costa’s contract which was due to run until the end of the season amid reports that Tottenham are interested in signing the striker.

Costa was linked with a move to Spurs in the summer but the deal never materialised and the veteran striker ended up remaining at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in signing the Spanish striker.

With the former Chelsea man now being a free agent, it could potentially be an even more lucrative deal for the North Londoners to pursue.

Interestingly, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Atletico Madrid want to bring in Arkadiusz Milik as a replacement for the 32-year-old.

Milik is reportedly also on Tottenham’s radar (Express) and Romano has now said that the Polish striker is available for just €15m (£13.6m) in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would personally rather see Spurs get Milik rather than Costa. However, given that that the Spaniard is available on a free and Jose Mourinho knows him well, I would not be surprised if the club decided to take a punt on the 32-year-old.
