Rumoured Spurs target goes on strike to force a move away

Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovačić has gone on strike to push forward a transfer due to a lack of first-team football, according to Marca.

Kovacic has reportedly refused to train again for Real Madrid in an attempt to force a move away from the current Champions League holders.

Spurs have been linked with the Croatian midfielder after it was believed he was no longer in the future plans of Madrid.

The Lilywhites are not the only English side reportedly interested in signing the Madrista with London rivals Chelsea and Manchester United both chasing the signature.

However, the former Inter Milan midfielder has reportedly stated he is unwilling to work under Jose Mourinho.

Real director, Jose Angel Sanchez once said the club would never allow Kovacic to leave but with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro all ahead of him it looks like he is heading for the exit:

“Kovacic is not for sale, we will never sell him.’

“He is one of the players the club’s future relies on,” he said.

Kovacic has made a total of 73 appearances for Los Blancos but only netted on one occasion.

However, the 24-year-old could provide a suitable replacement for Mousa Dembele who looks set to leave at the end of this season when his contract expires.

With a reported £50m price tag on him, Spurs fans could you realistically see Daniel Levy forking out that type of money for the Croatian?
