Rumoured Spurs target praises Jose Mourinho ahead of potential reunion

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has once again stated his desire to play in the Premier League.

The German World Cup winner has revealed that a move to England would be the icing on the cake and has been working with a fitness coach to prepare his body for the demands of the Premier League.

The 33-year-old is relishing the opportunity of fewer breaks in a match while also enjoying counter-attacking football, which is something that Jose Mourinho has introduced to his Tottenham Hotspur side.

“The Premier League is still missing in my collection; to play there would be the icing on the cake,” Khedira told The Athletic.

“There are fewer breaks in the game and many counter-attacks, but this is what I like. I’ve done a lot of extra sessions with fitness coaches to get myself ready for a higher pace and intensity.

Khedira has been frozen out of the first team picture in Turin and has been linked with possible moves to Tottenham and Everton (Tuttosport).

The midfielder played under Mourinho for three years at Spanish giants Real Madrid, while also as spending two years working with Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich.

Khedira has credited Mourinho for making him the player he is today after revealing that the Portuguese always pushed him to his limit to perform at the top of his game.

“[Mourinho] is very direct, very demanding, working with him is no picnic, because he doesn’t do things by half. If you don’t perform, you’ll get it in the neck,” Khedira explained.

“But you understand that’s because he values you as a player. The maximum is not enough for him, he pushes you to your limit. That’s how I’ve become the player and the person I am today.

“I’m so pleased that he’s doing so well at Spurs. No one thought he had it in him anymore. But he never stops believing, that’s his secret. And now he’s back. I find that fascinating, but I’m not surprised.”
