Rumoured Spurs target’s teammate has ‘no doubt’ that player will leave

Former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela has admitted that he expects his Los Angeles FC teammate Diego Rossi, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar to leave the club sooner rather than later.

The summer transfer window is now officially open and even though Tottenham do not have a head coach in place yet, the club’s soon-to-be director of football Fabio Paratici is already reportedly working on potential incoming and outgoings.

One player who the North London club are rumoured to be eyeing is Rossi, who has been one of the most consistent forwards in the MLS since arriving at Los Angeles in 2018.

The Telegraph reported on Thursday that the pacy attacker, who netted 18 goals in each of his last two seasons, is interesting both Everton and Spurs. The report added that the Uruguayan international is expected to cost around £10m.

Vela, who has thrived alongside Rossi for Los Angeles over the last few years, raved about the 23-year-old’s ability and backed the forward to have a successful career in European football.

The Mexican told LA Times: “I have a great friendship with Diego. He is young, so I think I have to help him mature.

“In my mind, I have no doubt Diego will leave for Europe soon. I am trying to teach him what I have experienced and he will go to Europe and have a career there.”
